I have been thinking, vaguely admittedly given that I haven’t actually gotten around to doing anything about it yet, about a “photo a week” type thing. I definitely do think that a “photo a day” would never happen, but a photo or a set of photos once a week wouldn’t be too much to do! It’s just a matter of finding interesting things to take photos of!

Anyway. when I was on Prince’s Wharf waiting for a friend to turn up so we could go and get something for lunch during her lunch break I saw one of the Maritime Museum Boats out in the harbor and thought I’d quickly take a few photos of it. I ended up taking a few than I originally planned to because it turned around and sailed back towards Princes Wharf after sitting in the same place for about five minutes… It’s a pity today’s cloudy and overcast as it would have looked a lot nicer with a bright blue sky and water.

Gerry and I have started looking for this year’s eggs in the 2015 Big Egg Hunt and have done rather well over a couple of Gerry’s lunch breaks in the city and a separate trip to the Auckland Museum. (To go see the Wearable Arts exhibit). Gerry’s Big Egg Hunt page has the photos she took.

I don’t think the eggs we’ve seen so far have been as good overall as the ones from last year – so far at least. One of my favorites though, was the egg covered in poppies in the top floor of the Museum which has the areas to do with the various war exhibits. This is it –

We’ve still got quite a few left to find in Auckland, which will provide a minor distraction πŸ™‚ This is only the second year they’ve done this, it’s only of minor interest admittedly.

We did make it last Monday fortunately for us and the weather was good enough that we were able to see all of the lights without it raining – I was worried once when I did feel some rain but it didn’t start raining fully. We had dinner at the Thai Classic, unfortunately it has new owners and ha gone downhill since we last eat there πŸ™ Gerry did say that her parents had the same problem when they went there recently too, so it wasn’t just the restaurant having a bad night πŸ™ The portions were smaller and the food wasn’t up to the wonderful standards set by the the previous owners πŸ™

I told Gerry I’d post a link to her Franklin Road Lights page, which has all of the photos she took that night πŸ™‚ I agree with her, I really liked the small Christmas village someone set up inside their house (you could look in at it through the windows).

I ended up having a chicken, camembert & cranberry sandwich for lunch today. It was surprisingly bland, but still nice πŸ™‚

I do think I’m seeing a theme in my favorite types of food though – cheese! I do eat a lot of it and usually have some every day.

I ended up going over to the city to catch up on stuff – mostly boring stuff like going to the bank. But I did end up having a look around in case they had started to put Christmas decorations yet. I do think that Smith & Caughey is starting to create their annual Christmas display, as they had a section of their “blacked” out by ads and already have a few minor Christmas decorations up…

Obviously nothing in Aotea Square, but I did end up taking some photos of the carved arch which i’ve always thought was really well done.

I ended up going over the the Public Library and meeting Gerry during her lunch break and we went to this little chinese place for lunch.

Gerry has sent me the page from her website with her photos from the Auckland Art Week – we went to the K Road section together. Over lunch she told me about the sculpture on the shore show, which I would have forgotten about otherwise! It’ll be something interesting to do next month.

At the moment I’m in the process of catching up on the second season of Hannibal. It’s currently showing on New Zealand TV, so I can watch it ondemand. I’d completely forgotten about watching it the last couple of weeks so am able to watch 3 episodes in a row today πŸ™‚Β  I like Eddie Izzard and was surprised about how good I think his performance was in Hannibal – a serial killer isn’t something I could normally see him as…

I ended up going out quickly this morning and bought a chicken wrap for lunch. It wasn’t too bad, though I don’t think I’ll try it again as it was rather bland – it would be very bland if it didn’t have cheese in it πŸ™

I ended up going out today and rather than having a standard morning tea I ended up have a sausage and egg muffin combo – with a medium orange juice.

I think I’m going to try and start doing a photo based food dairy rather than the more boring written one,Β especially as it’ll give a better idea of how big the servings I am eating are.

The egg and beetroot sandwich I had for lunch today.

I am feeling better again – fortunately! – I’m still not 100% which is annoying me no end. (It’s one of those viruses so the doctor can’t give me anything for it πŸ™ ). I more or less had to go out today because I’m at the point where I needed to get a present for my mother of her birthday. At least she had told me in great detail, down to colour what she wanted, so getting it was easy at least.

As you can tell from the photo I ended up having lunch out again today, though just a vegetarian egg, beetroot and salad sandwich this time. (The chocolate and mint slice, and the biscotti in the background aren’t mine, as I bumped into some friends and they had them with coffee while I had an early lunch).

I’m beginning to think I don’t have as much to say as i thought I would πŸ™ Before starting this blog I would mentally “write” all this posts I would have for this blog, but now – nothing πŸ™ I’m going to give the actual food journal entries a miss for now, because I think they’re boring and at the rate I’m currently going it’s be the same basic list for page after page, after page….

Anyway I had to go to the local shops this morning anyway, so I decided to buy something for lunch while I was out there as I’m getting sick of things I make at home for lunch. I got this incredibly nice cheese and ham tart from one of theΒ  nice coffee shops there.
